The Big Monty, Montgomery High's 50th anniversary gala, is an activity of the Montgomery Education Foundation, or MEF. The Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that works to enhance the environment of learning at Montgomery High and aspires to become an ever more vital partner in fulfilling the school's vision for an ambitious new level of rigor, creativity, real-world relevance and academic excellence. Montgomery parents and alumni created the Foundation as a constructive response to the cuts in public-education funding that often leave teachers without the equipment, materials, supplies and special training they need. Since its inception in 2004, the Foundation has made tens of thousands of dollars in grants to Montgomery teachers and programs. That money has positively impacted classroom instruction and many other aspects of campus life. The MEF hopes to contribute much more. In addition to sponsoring The Big Monty, the MEF is working to create a $1 million endowment fund to help make Montgomery a model high school for the next 50 years and beyond.
We’re building a $1 million endowment fund As members of the Montgomery Education Foundation make plans for The Big Monty, they’re also working with alumni and other friends of our remarkable school to create the Montgomery Endowment Fund. This Fund will provide a source of essential financial support for Montgomery programs into perpetuity. Once the Fund is in place and producing interest and earnings, the MEF will use that income each year to make grants to teachers and programs across the campus. Our goal is for 1,000 friends of Montgomery to each make a $1,000 gift to the Endowment. Will you become one of the Montgomery One Thousand?
